Bars from Maine to California Compete to Sell the Most American Beer July 16-18th
July 15, 2002 – Bars across the U.S. will celebrate American Beer Month July 16-18 by seeing which one can sell the most American Beer. The American Beer Month Challenge Cup is a countrywide celebration focusing on the tradition and innovation of American brewing. The competition is organized by Realbeer.com and sponsored by Michelob Amber Bock.
Each establishment competing for the Challenge Cup has designated up to 10 American beers. Whoever sells the most beer through those taps July 16-18 wins a large loving cup (suitable for drinking from). Customers who buy a beer will receive a password to register at Realbeer.com. One customer from the winning pub will win a $100 beer certificate at that pub.
Bars from Maine to California are competing not only for the Challenge Cup, but also for regional pride. Within the family of BJ's Restaurant and Breweries small and larger pubs will see who can sell the most beer. If Turtle Mountain Brewing in Rio Rancho sells more beer July 16-18 than Boscos Squared in Memphis, then Chuck Skypeck of Boscos will ship Memphis barbecue to Rio Rancho. If Boscos sells more than Turtle Mountain, then TMBC owner Nico Ortiz will send Skypeck barbecue from Smokehouse BBQ in Rio Rancho.
